Dacono is a city located in Weld County, Colorado. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 3,015.

Dacono was incorporated on May 21, 1908. Charles Baum named the City by choosing the first two letters from three ladies' names: Daisy, Cora and Nora to form Dacono.

Dacono is a friendly, growing community in southern Weld County, 20 miles north of Denver, Colorado. The area is also commonly known as the Carbon Valley or Tri-Town area.

Dacono, CO Demographics
As of the census of 2000, there are 3,015 people, 1,087 households, and 756 families residing in the city. The population density is 426.4/km² (1,103.0/mi²). There are 1,136 housing units at an average density of 160.7/km² (415.6/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 77.05% White, 0.43% African American, 0.96% Native American, 1.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 17.98% from other races, and 2.59% from two or more races. 32.04% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 1,087 households out of which 34.6% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 55.3% are married couples living together, 9.3% have a female householder with no husband present, and 30.4% are non-families. 23.6% of all households are made up of individuals and 7.6% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.77 and the average family size is 3.32.

In the city the population is spread out with 29.2% under the age of 18, 7.9% from 18 to 24, 32.4% from 25 to 44, 21.2% from 45 to 64, and 9.3% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 33 years. For every 100 females there are 100.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 99.3 males.

The median income for a household in the city is $38,854, and the median income for a family is $42,659. Males have a median income of $29,899 versus $25,000 for females. The per capita income for the city is $15,368. 6.0% of the population and 3.6% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 6.5% of those under the age of 18 and 6.4% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
