Lone Tree is a city located in Douglas County, Colorado. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 4,873.

Lone Tree is located at 39°32'56" North, 104°53'33" West (39.548947, -104.892546). It is on the northern border of Douglas County, and directly adjacent to Arapahoe County. It is in what is called the 'south metro' area of Denver, and is a suburb of Denver.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 4.5 km² (1.7 mi²). 4.5 km² (1.7 mi²) of it is land and none of it is covered by water.

As of the census of 2000, there are 4,873 people, 1,848 households, and 1,367 families residing in the city. The population density is 1,093.9/km² (2,827.2/mi²). There are 1,906 housing units at an average density of 427.9/km² (1,105.8/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 91.55% White, 1.48% African American, 0.25% Native American, 3.69% Asian, 0.04% Pacific Islander, 1.31% from other races, and 1.68% from two or more races. 4.58% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 1,848 households out of which 38.7% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 67.0% are married couples living together, 4.9% have a female householder with no husband present, and 26.0% are non-families. 19.5% of all households are made up of individuals and 1.7% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.64 and the average family size is 3.08.
In the city the population is spread out with 28.3% under the age of 18, 5.4% from 18 to 24, 34.5% from 25 to 44, 28.0% from 45 to 64, and 3.9% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 37 years. For every 100 females there are 98.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 94.7 males.
The median income for a household in the city is $96,308, and the median income for a family is $109,003. Males have a median income of $90,690 versus $43,125 for females. The per capita income for the city is $46,287. 1.4% of the population and 1.2% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 1.5% of those under the age of 18 and 3.7% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
