Morrison is a town located in Jefferson County, Colorado. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 430.
Today, Morrison is a small but thriving town whose major industries are tourism and margaritas -- especially in the summer. Visitors come for their restaurants, rocks, and/or rock concerts. They may be passing through on their way to and from the spectacular high peaks to the west, or they may come to Morrison for the day or a whole weekend away from the city, just as they did in Morrison's earliest days.
Morrison is the home of the first important dinosaur discoveries in the American West--now celebrating more than 125 years of dinosaur discovery. At their small museum, you'll get up close and personal with Stegosaurus, Apatosaurus, and many more.
Opened in 1990, this Museum tells the story of Morrison's 1877 dinosaur discoveries on nearby Dinosaur Ridge, and the plants and animals that share the area today. Here you will see -- and touch -- real dinosaur bones, and even help chip rock away from them at their Return of the Native exhibit. You will also get acquainted with some of Colorado's Forgotten Natives, when you visit with their live native reptile and amphibian friends.
