Sheridan is a city located in Arapahoe County, Colorado. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 5,600.
The small community of Sheridan was founded in 1890 and is located in the south Denver metropolitan area.

Sheridan is located at 39°38'56" North, 105°1'4" West (39.648920, -105.017681).
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 5.8 km² (2.2 mi²). 5.7 km² (2.2 mi²) of it is land and 0.1 km² (0.04 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 1.79% water.
The establishment of a military post near Denver in 1887, brought many to the area. The militarty post was originally called the Camp near Denver, but was later named Fort Logan. Sheridan Colorado is named after General Philip H. Sheridan of the Army.

As of the census of 2000, there are 5,600 people, 2,236 households, and 1,372 families residing in the city. The population density is 982.8/km² (2,543.4/mi²). There are 2,395 housing units at an average density of 420.3/km² (1,087.8/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 77.00% White, 1.88% African American, 2.20% Native American, 1.68% Asian, 0.07% Pacific Islander, 12.54% from other races, and 4.64% from two or more races. 32.52% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 2,236 households out of which 30.3% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 39.9% are married couples living together, 15.2% have a female householder with no husband present, and 38.6% are non-families. 31.7% of all households are made up of individuals and 12.5% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.50 and the average family size is 3.14.
In the city the population is spread out with 26.2% under the age of 18, 10.1% from 18 to 24, 30.5% from 25 to 44, 20.6% from 45 to 64, and 12.6% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 35 years. For every 100 females there are 103.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 103.1 males.
The median income for a household in the city is $34,984, and the median income for a family is $38,500. Males have a median income of $29,655 versus $22,500 for females. The per capita income for the city is $16,635. 11.8% of the population and 9.0% of families are below the poverty line.
