As of the census of 2000, there are 3,932 people, 1,606 households, and 941 families residing in the CDP. The population density is 1,012.1/km² (2,615.1/mi²). There are 1,681 housing units at an average density of 432.7/km² (1,118.0/mi²). The racial makeup of the CDP is 91.45% White, 1.30% African American, 0.99% Native American, 0.48% Asian, 0.03% Pacific Islander, 2.52% from other races, and 3.23% from two or more races. 8.21% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 1,606 households out of which 27.3% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 41.3% are married couples living together, 12.3% have a female householder with no husband present, and 41.4% are non-families. 29.9% of all households are made up of individuals and 6.7% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.37 and the average family size is 2.95.
In the CDP the population is spread out with 21.9% under the age of 18, 11.6% from 18 to 24, 34.8% from 25 to 44, 22.1% from 45 to 64, and 9.5% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 35 years. For every 100 females there are 117.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 121.5 males.
The median income for a household in the CDP is $40,160, and the median income for a family is $45,000. Males have a median income of $35,929 versus $27,742 for females.
